Mathematics isn't one-size-fits-all. While most tutors follow rigid lesson plans, we architect a unique learning ecosystem around each student.
Here's how we do it.
DuoSpace revolutionizes math tutoring by putting your unique learning style first. Everything we do centers around three proven principles that maximize your success: evaluation, customization, and direction.
Our tutors combine strong academic credentials with exceptional emotional intelligence. From their years of experience, they know that effective math tutoring requires real-time adaptability and genuine connections with students.
A California native, Columbia graduate, data scientist, surfer, and part-time youth climbing instructor, Austin still refers to teaching math as "the best part of his day." From within the classroom, he saw the how highly personalized content could rekindle joy and love of learning, so he founded DuoSpace to extend this approach to as many young mathematicians as possible.
After 5+ years in education, Austin has taught over 200 students at UC San Diego, Columbia University, and Art of Problem Solving. He's helped struggling students score at the top of their class, and accelerated top-scoring students to become national-level superstars. Ask him about his guaranteed results!

Our first session contains a comprehensive evaluation that helps us understand not just what a student knows, but how they learn best. We explore thought processes, identify areas where concepts might have disconnected, and understand your goals moving forward. At the 30-minute mark, you have the option to end the session at no cost if you feel we're not the right fit. This transparency is important to us — we want to ensure you're completely comfortable with our approach. By the end of the session, we'll have a clear picture of your learning style and a customized plan for moving forward. Parents receive a detailed insight report within 24 hours, outlining our findings and recommended learning pathway.
Standard sessions are 60 minutes once per week, though this can be increased based on your student's needs. Extended sessions are common for more intensive study or complex topics. After each session, students receive carefully crafted homework assignments (approximately 2 hours' worth) that reinforce the concepts covered in our lesson. This homework isn't busy work – it's designed to strengthen understanding and build confidence through deliberate practice. We believe this balance of focused tutoring and thoughtful practice leads to optimal learning outcomes.
Math anxiety is one of our specialties. We start by understanding the root causes of your child's anxiety and create a pressure-free environment where mistakes are welcomed as learning opportunities. Our approach focuses on carefully rebuilding foundational concepts to ultimately improve self-confidence. Many students who underwent this program now report that math is their favorite subject. Analytically, we'll track both emotional comfort and academic progress to ensure your student truly maximizes their mathematical abilities.
